As we walk into 2025, join us for an afternoon of connection and knowledge-sharing with your fellow IMA members and aspiring students of IMA Austin Area Chapter. Enjoy a delightful meet and greet, a presentation by IMA Austin chapter Board member Rich Lain about "2025 Winter Outlook for ERCOT and Electricity Update" followed by refreshments and sandwiches!

About the Speaker:
Rich Lain
Manager, Rate Cases Manager, Rate Cases

Rich is responsible for managing the development, filing, and processing of rate cases and
other regulatory filings for Southwestern Public Service Company (SPS). He directs case teams from various areas within SPS and Xcel Energy Services, Inc. and provides direction and overall management support for rate cases and other filing preparations. He also facilitates the development of policy issues and advocacy to be included in regulatory filings, and coordinates the overall preparation of filed testimony, attachments, schedules, and workpapers to produce filings in accordance with applicable rules and procedures in regulatory jurisdictions in which SPS operates. Rich began his career in the industry as a financial analyst at the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), later advancing to director of Tariff and Rate Analysis in the PUCT’s Rate and Regulation Division. In this role, he directed and performed costing and pricing analyses of regulated and non-regulated electricity and telecommunications providers – including SPS. In 2012, Rich joined GDS Associates, Inc. and continued his work in the regulated utility industry working on electric, gas, and water utility matters and appearing before both the PUCT as well as the Texas Railroad Commission, which regulates natural gas utilities in Texas. Most recently, Rich has been Manager, Regulatory Affairs for Entergy Texas, Inc. Rich holds a bachelor of business administration degree in management and a bachelor of arts degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin as well as a master of business administration degree from the University of Nevada with a concentration in finance. Rich also holds the designations of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. Rich calls Austin home and when away from work, he enjoys spending time with his three children, attending major sporting events, golfing, skiing, and serving as a volunteer youth teacher at his church. Rich is also an inmate discipleship leader for the God of Hope Ministries at the Travis County State Jail.
